Black Friday 2026: Which Luxury Brands Go on Sale, and Which Never Do
Black Friday 2026 falls on Friday 27 November, with Cyber Monday following on Monday 30 November. Whether you're shopping from Dubai, Zurich or London, most of what you'll see that week is a straightforward discount. Luxury is different. Some of the most famous houses in the world won't move their prices at all. Others leave discounting to department stores and outlets. A few join in openly.
Knowing which is which saves you from two mistakes: waiting for a sale that will never come, and trusting one that's too good to be real.
The Short Answer
- Never discount: Chanel, Hermès and Louis Vuitton. No Black Friday, no outlets, no reductions on the iconic bags.
- Discounted mostly by others: Gucci, Prada, Saint Laurent and Burberry skip Black Friday on their own sites or keep it minimal. Reductions on Bottega Veneta and Moncler also come mainly through multi-brand retailers.
- Join in openly: Michael Kors, Hugo Boss, Ralph Lauren and Furla, with selected pieces reduced on their own websites.
The Houses That Never Discount
Does Chanel have a Black Friday sale?
No. Chanel doesn't take part in Black Friday, and its signature bags (the Classic Flap, the 2.55, the Coco Handle, the Chanel 22) are kept out of any markdown. The house does quietly reduce a selection of seasonal pieces at the end of the summer and winter seasons, without announcing it, but the classics are never part of it.
For the classics, the realistic route to a lower price is the pre-owned market. That's where our Chanel selection comes from: it is made up of pre-owned pieces.
Does Hermès go on sale for Black Friday?
No. Hermès has no outlets, and its handbags are never discounted. Even the house's twice-yearly sale in Paris famously leaves the bags out. A Birkin or a Kelly offered new at a discount should be read as a warning, not an opportunity. Our Hermès selection shows what's available on the secondary market right now.
Does Louis Vuitton do Black Friday?
No, and the brand is unusually explicit about it. Louis Vuitton has stated on its own website that it never marks down its prices, and that discounted Louis Vuitton found online, unless secondhand, should be treated as suspect. There are no Louis Vuitton outlets either.
It's also why every piece in our Louis Vuitton selection is pre-owned, and labelled that way.
The Houses That Leave It to Others
Does Gucci have a Black Friday sale?
Not on its own website. Gucci doesn't run Black Friday promotions directly. Reduced Gucci tends to appear in authorised department stores' holiday sales and in the brand's outlet stores, which carry past-season pieces. If you're considering a classic, read why the GG Marmont still works ten years on, then browse our Gucci selection.
Does Prada do Black Friday?
No. Prada skips Black Friday. When it does mark down, it follows the end-of-season calendar, and the reductions focus mainly on seasonal clothing and shoes rather than core leather goods. See our Prada selection.
Is Saint Laurent on sale for Black Friday?
The fashion house isn't, but the confusion is understandable. YSL Beauty, the licensed fragrance and make-up line, typically runs a Black Friday promotion, while Saint Laurent bags, clothing and accessories are excluded. If you see "YSL Black Friday", check which YSL it is. Our Saint Laurent selection is here, along with the story of the woman behind the Loulou.
Does Burberry have Black Friday sales?
Rarely on its own site. Burberry is one of the few big houses with a long-established outlet network, so reduced Burberry exists all year. You'll mostly find it in outlets and through authorised department stores, rather than in a Black Friday event of the brand's own. See our Burberry selection.
What about Bottega Veneta and Moncler?
Around Black Friday, reductions on both come mainly through multi-brand retailers, on selected pieces. Our Bottega Veneta and Moncler selections are here. If you'd like the backstory first, read how Moncler went from mountain gear to luxury.
The Brands That Join In
Does Michael Kors have a Black Friday sale?
Yes. Michael Kors runs a Black Friday event on its own site, usually opening early for its loyalty members. The higher-end Michael Kors Collection line is typically left out. See Michael Kors at Aulæ.
Does Hugo Boss do Black Friday?
Yes. Hugo Boss usually opens its Black Friday sale a few days early, with reductions on selected pieces rather than the whole collection. See Hugo Boss at Aulæ.
Does Ralph Lauren have Black Friday deals?
Yes. Ralph Lauren reduces selected styles on its own site for Black Friday. See our Ralph Lauren selection, and the story of how a tie salesman from the Bronx invented the look.
Does Furla do Black Friday?
Yes. Furla runs Black Friday on its official site, with up to 50% off selected bags, wallets and accessories. See our Furla selection, and why Furla never tried to be Prada.
What Actually Gets Discounted
Even houses that never discount their bags often show up in Black Friday ads. Usually that's because of what sits around the core collection:
- Fragrance and beauty are typically licensed and sold through beauty retailers, which discount them freely. The YSL Beauty example above is typical.
- Eyewear is licensed too. Optical retailers regularly cut prices on frames and sunglasses from houses like Gucci, Saint Laurent, Balenciaga and Bottega Veneta around Black Friday. Our glasses and sunglasses are a good place to compare.
- Seasonal clothing and shoes from houses that do mark down usually go on sale at the end of the season, in midsummer and midwinter, not on Black Friday.
What almost never moves is the iconic leather: the bags a house is built on.
How to Tell a Real Black Friday Deal From a Fake
Black Friday is also peak season for scams. In the UK alone, the National Cyber Security Centre and Action Fraud reported that shoppers lost more than £11.5 million to online fraud over a single festive season, across more than 16,000 reports. Security researchers tracked a Black Friday 2025 campaign advertising Louis Vuitton bags for around $200, a price that should stop anyone.
Six checks cover most of it:
- Start with the brand. If it's Chanel, Hermès or Louis Vuitton, sold as new and discounted, walk away. Pre-owned is different, but it should be clearly described as pre-owned.
- Check the "was" price. Compare it against the brand's own retail price. An inflated reference price turns an ordinary discount into a dramatic one.
- Distrust extreme percentages. 70–90% off current-season designer pieces doesn't come from any legitimate channel.
- Ignore the countdown. Pressure to buy right now is one of the tactics police warnings single out every Black Friday.
- Pay with protection. Use a card or PayPal, never a bank transfer to a seller you don't know.
- Make sure a person answers. Look for a real phone number, an email address, and someone who replies to a question before you pay.
Black Friday at Aulæ
Our prices typically sit below boutique retail all year, Black Friday or not, and every piece comes with a certificate of authenticity. For the houses that never discount, our Preloved selection is where pieces from Chanel and Louis Vuitton appear, typically below their boutique price.
We'll share our own Black Friday plans here in November.
Quick Answers
When is Black Friday 2026?
Friday 27 November 2026, followed by Cyber Monday on Monday 30 November. Many retailers start their promotions earlier in the month.
Is Cyber Monday better than Black Friday for designer pieces?
Rarely. Brands that take part usually extend the same Black Friday offers through Cyber Monday, with less left in stock by the end.
Is a discounted Louis Vuitton bag on Black Friday real?
Only if it's pre-owned and clearly sold as such. New Louis Vuitton is never marked down.
